Treyarch has just released the patch notes for Season 3 of Black Ops 6 Zombies, and there’s a lot to unpack. From exclusive new details about the Shattered Veil map to changes in camo challenges and fixes for Light Mend and Tesla Storm, this update has a lot of exciting additions and improvements. Let’s dive into the details.
New Map: Shattered Veil
The most notable addition in Season 3 is the Shattered Veil map, and Treyarch has addressed several issues regarding the new director mode and other gameplay mechanics. There’s also the exciting new Team Cranked mode, which focuses on more squad-based gameplay. If you survive past round 50 on each map in this mode, you’ll earn a custom selection of six gobble gums per map along with 15,000 XP. It’s a great incentive to push your limits and test your skills with friends.
Wonder Weapons: Ray Gun MK2 Variants
Season 3 brings some new variations to the iconic Ray Gun, with three unique variants: the Mark W, Mark P, and Mark R. These variants turn the Ray Gun into different weapon classes. The Mark W has a bullet pattern similar to a submachine gun and can randomly ignite enemies. The Mark P behaves like a shotgun, and the Mark R is like a marksman rifle. These variants will make the Ray Gun feel fresh and add more variety to your arsenal.
In terms of how to obtain them, the Ray Gun MK2 will be available in the mystery box on Shattered Veil. However, the variants can only be acquired through specific quests. Treyarch also confirmed that the Ray Gun MK2 will be added to the mystery box on all previous Black Ops 6 Zombies maps during the mid-season update, continuing the tradition from past Black Ops games.
The Return of Double Tap
One of the most exciting features in this update is the return of the Double Tap perk. Kevin Drew from Treyarch was particularly enthusiastic about bringing it back, and it’s more similar to Double Tap 1.0 than Double Tap 2.0. Players will notice some interesting changes in how it interacts with weapons, making it a valuable perk once again in Black Ops 6 Zombies.
Fixes and Bug Fixes
Treyarch has also addressed several bugs and issues that players have encountered in the game:
Light Mend Ammo Mod: There was an issue where consuming a healing glyph would not temporarily allow players to heal faster. This has now been fixed.
Tesla Storm: Some problems with the Tesla Storm field upgrade have been resolved, including an issue with movement speed and extended duration applying to all players.
Mangler Issues: Manglers can no longer attack players from outside the playable space.
Gobble Gums: A bug where players couldn’t use their gobble gums after entering prestige has been fixed.
Max Ammo Power-Up: Treyarch fixed an issue where the max ammo power-up wouldn't refill ammo for players using a mutant injection.
Changes to Camo Challenges
For players working on camo challenges, Treyarch has made some significant adjustments. The GS45 and LR762 camo requirements were changed from critical kills to eliminations. This is due to these weapons becoming explosive after being Pack-a-Punched, which made getting critical kills difficult. This change will make it much easier to complete the final camo challenges for these weapons.
Additionally, challenges like Titan Felling (elite kills with shotguns) now allow special zombie kills to progress the challenge, and Perfectly Charred (killing special zombies with molotovs) will now progress with thermobaric grenades. The Stalking Prey challenge, which required melee kills while inside smoke from a smoke grenade, no longer requires melee weapons, making it more accessible.
UI and Graphics Fixes
There are also a number of UI and graphical fixes that improve the overall gameplay experience. For example, there was an issue where an equipped ammo mod would be hidden behind a support streak when using akimbo weapons. This has now been corrected. Other minor bugs, such as the misalignment of the ray gun in third-person view and problems with the timeout gobble gum, have also been fixed.
Side Easter Eggs in Shattered Veil
In an exclusive tidbit shared during a creator call, Kevin Drew revealed that Shattered Veil will have a similar number of side Easter eggs to Citadel Daymore. While it won’t quite match the abundance seen in Terminus, the side Easter eggs in Shattered Veil will be plentiful and provide players with plenty of challenges to uncover.
Shattered Veil Map Description
Treyarch also provided an official description of the Shattered Veil map:
“Following the events of The Tomb, the team returns to Liberty Falls with the Sentinel artifact in hand. Their goal is to rescue Agent Maxis from the Dark Ether and confront Richtofen. Finally, the crew meets Sam face-to-face and confronts Richtofen.” This marks the first time players will get to confront Richtofen directly in this game, which raises the stakes for the storyline and adds an exciting new layer to the narrative.
Season 3 of Black Ops 6 Zombies brings a host of exciting updates, from the new Shattered Veil map and new weapon variants to fixes and changes to gameplay mechanics. The return of Double Tap, new Wonder Weapon variants, and adjustments to camo challenges are sure to keep players engaged. With new side Easter eggs to discover and the story moving forward in an exciting direction, there’s a lot to look forward to in this update. Be sure to tune in for the upcoming live stream Easter egg hunt on Wednesday, as it promises to be an exciting event for Black Ops 6 Zombies fans.
