Lineage 2M is a vast MMORPG where progression is tied closely to your equipment, potion L2M Diamonds management, and farming efficiency. Whether you're building a melee assassin, a ranged archer, or a spell-casting mage, your gear choices and farming spots will determine how quickly you advance through the game.

In this guide, we'll cover essential gear for melee characters (with some advice for mages and ranged), how to manage your potions, where to farm for the best loot, and what to do with excess items. This walkthrough is based on practical in-game experience and is designed to help you optimize your character whether you're actively playing or leaving them to grind AFK.

Choosing Your Equipment: The Basics

My primary character is an Assassin, built for close-quarters combat with daggers. Like many players, I started out with green-grade gear and gradually worked my way toward blue-grade L2M Diamonds and event gear. Even if you haven't secured blue equipment yet, properly managing green gear and enhancing it can keep you competitive.

Two essential items stand out for all melee characters:

Potion Recovery Seals (120 Diamonds each)

Available from the Diamond Exchange Shop, these seals provide two crucial stats: potion recovery and weapon defense. For melee fighters who take a lot of hits, this is a lifesaver. They're affordable compared to higher-tier items and provide a foundation for survivability.

Pro tip: Avoid enhancing these seals too aggressively. They can fail, and losing them is a setback. Keep them at their base stats-they're already strong enough.

Core Gear Sets for Melee

  1. Mithril Set (Recommended for melee)

 Pieces: Breastplate, Gloves, Boots, Helmet

Set Bonus: +3 Defense, +2 Constitution

Constitution is critical for melee characters, giving you extra survivability. A full Mithril set provides well-rounded stats without sacrificing defense.

  1. Elven Material Gear (Alternative option)

 Safe enhancement up to +6.

Slightly less defense overall but provides +2 Constitution.

Better option on paper if you want a bit more survivability, especially when grinding undead-heavy areas.

  1. Crafting Your Gear

Most Mithril pieces can be crafted using steel, quality iron, and quality leather. Farm these materials and aim for +4 enhancements first. Once you have extras, push some items toward +5 or +6 for weapon defense boosts.

Enhancement tip: After safe levels, enhancements add percentage-based bonuses like Weapon Defense +1%. Stack these when possible.

Key Accessories & Utility Items

Silver Cloak → Provides Defense + Skill Resistance. Skill resistance is often underrated but crucial in PvP and harder PvE battles.

Shirt of Concentration → Boosts Light-type damage, perfect against undead. Also grants Mana Recovery and Defense.

Gaiters of the Underworld → Provides Dark Resistance +20%, excellent for surviving against demon or undead mobs. Farmable at Dragon Valley Temple-players often leave them behind, making them easy to collect.

Strength Jewelry (Crafted Rings & Phoenix Ring) → Strength is a primary stat for melee. Accuracy from enhancements makes these rings doubly valuable.

Blue Coral Ring → Farmable near Dragon Valley Entrance, easily overlooked by others. Collect multiples and enhance them.

Elemental Rings (Fire, Earth, etc.) → Equip these when entering elemental dungeons for resistance against specific enemy damage types.

Belts → Prioritize belts with high weight limits so you can carry more potions during long AFK grinds.

Sigils → Provide solid defensive stats. Try to stack and enhance them to +3 or higher.

Weapon Selection

For my assassin, I use a +9 Green-grade Dagger (Dark Screamer).

Purchased for ~90 Diamonds from the market.

Key trait: Unbreakable. Some enemies can break weapons, which is a major hassle unless you carry hammers for repairs. Buying unbreakable versions saves you stress.

Weapon Progression Strategy:

First, secure a strong +4 weapon.

Upgrade progressively to +6 or higher.

Aim for +9 by buying directly from the market instead of gambling upgrades-this saves countless materials and frustration.

Enhancing Gear with Life Stones

Life Stones allow you to add random bonus stats to your items.

Best farming spot: The Gallows, L2M Diamonds where they drop in abundance.

Example bonuses:

 HP Recovery +3

Critical Hit +5 (amazing for melee and archers)

 Mana Recovery (for mages/healers)

Roll multiple stones until you hit a bonus that matches your build.

For my assassin, Critical Hit +5 was the jackpot.

Managing Potions Efficiently

Potions are the backbone of AFK farming. Managing them properly saves Diamonds and prevents wasted regen stats.

Potion Durations:

 Acceleration Potion: 5 minutes

 Food Buff: 30 minutes

Mana Potion: 10 minutesFor 1 hour of farming, you'll need:

 12 Acceleration Potions

 6 Mana Potions

 2 Food Buffs

For 8 hours AFK (my typical setup):

 96 Acceleration Potions

 48 Food Buffs

 144 Mana Potions

Use the General Merchant's Auto Purchase Settings to pre-stock. Once configured, you'll never run out mid-farm.

Healing Potion Rule: Keep your weight below 49.9%. Going above 50% disables passive regen from gear, causing you to burn through potions much faster.

Best Farming & AFK Grinding Spots

  1. Mithril Set Farming Spot (Melee Characters)

Location: Near Sisters, mark as a favorite.

 Drops: Mithril Set pieces.

 Efficient for early melee progression.

  1. Mage/Healer Farming Spot

 Location: Near Morg.

Drops: Zombie-type monsters drop mage gear and Life Stones in abundance.

Best for farming magical gear and enhancement stones.

  1. Dragon Valley Entrance

 Location: Accessible via Giran Village.

Drops: Blue Coral Rings, Gaiters of the Underworld, miscellaneous belts and accessories.

Many players ignore white-grade items, leaving them on the ground for you to scoop up.

Salvaging & Selling Items

Not every drop will be useful. Instead of letting items clog your inventory:

1.Salvage them into Crystals → Use for spirit advancement.

2.Sell excess gear on the Market → Save Diamonds for high-value purchases like skill books or better weapons.

Acquiring Skills Without Wasting Diamonds

Skill books are critical for class progression, but not all should be bought from the market.

City Merchants sell certain skill books for adena instead of diamonds.

Example: I bought two books directly from a merchant in a major city at a fraction of the cost.

Save Diamonds for books that cannot be purchased this way or rare skill tomes from the Market.

Additionally, save Medals of Honor for high-value books. They're a grind to earn but worth the investment.

Final Tips for Steady Progression

Focus first on a solid +4 set of gear, then push to +6 when resources allow.

Prioritize survivability (defense, potion recovery, resistances) before DPS-dead characters don't farm.

Learn the AFK sweet spots where enemies drop your needed gear but aren't too overwhelming.

Stock up properly on potions for long AFK sessions. Efficiency here directly equals diamonds and loot saved.

Salvage or sell everything else. Every drop has value-either as materials, crystals, or market goods.

Conclusion

Lineage 2M rewards preparation and optimization. By investing in the right melee gear, enhancing strategically, managing potions wisely, and farming at the best spots, you'll steadily push your character into higher levels and stronger builds. Avoid wasting Diamonds on unnecessary purchases, and instead focus on building your core gear and skills step by step.

Whether you're playing actively or letting your character grind overnight, following these strategies ensures you'll always return to meaningful progress.
