The comedian revealed the choice by releasing a statement saying, "Having previously no experience coaching soccer, or football if you will, I think Ted Lasso is the perfect candidate for dominating in an EA Sports FC esports competition." For his part, Trevor Noah is a well-known celebrity video game enthusiast, though it's uncertain whether the Daily Show host has any prior experience with FC 25.

Celebrities in the tournament are being paired up with pro players and the teams are competing for a $25.000 prize pool. Like many esports competitions, FC Face-Off will stream live on Twitch as opposed to competitors like YouTube. The first part of the competition can be watched on EA's FC Twitch channel, EASPORTS FC, where the second portion of the competition is set to stream on March 26 at 12:30 PM ET.

The Strong has announced this year's 12 candidates to be inducted into the National Museum of Play's World Video Game Hall of Fame.
